Because Lahaina Beach is usually peaceful, swimming and snorkeling are recommended, especially in the area close to the breakwater that forms Lahaina Harbor, where fish and sea turtles are frequently sighted. Although there aren’t many large waves at Lahaina Beach, neighboring breakers like Breakwall and Lahaina Harbor can provide opportunities for novice and intermediate surfers to get their feet wet. Take a boat tour from Lahaina Harbor to see whales, snorkel Molokini Crater, or take a sunset sail around the coast of Maui.

Discover Lahaina’s famed Front Street, which is adorned with stores, cafes, restaurants, and art galleries. It’s a terrific spot to try Hawaiian shaved ice, have dinner with views of the ocean, and find souvenirs. A number of eateries on Front Street provide eating by the sea with views of neighboring islands Lanai and Molokai as well as Lahaina Beach.

Take a stroll down the plaque- and sign-marked Lahaina Historic Trail to discover the town’s past as the Hawaiian Kingdom’s capital, a whaling community, and a missionary center. Discover Lahaina Harbor by taking a ferry to nearby islands like Lanai and seeing fishing and historic ships.

Take a romantic sunset boat out of Lahaina Harbor, or reserve a dinner cruise for spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean sunset. Lahaina Beach and the surrounding area are a must-visit for anyone visiting Maui’s west coast because they provide a perfect balance of leisure, history, culture, and natural beauty.
