Second Beach, also known as Sachuest Beach, is a popular, family-friendly beach in Middletown, Rhode Island. The beach is located at 315 Sachuest Point Road and is part of Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. During the summer season, lifeguards are on duty daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Amenities include restrooms, outdoor showers, a concession stand, and picnic areas.
At the end of the beach known as “Surfer’s End,” surfing, kayaking, and kite flying are popular. Dogs are allowed on the beach with restrictions. Second Beach is known for mild to large waves depending on the weather conditions. During the off-season (October 1 to April 30), leashed dogs can visit any time.
